Alien Breed Timed Exclusivity Explained

Team 17 has explained why Alien Breed: Evolution will be released on the Xbox 360 before the PC and PS3.

Speaking
to GamerZines, Team 17’s Mark Baldwin explained that the developer’s history with Microsoft, and the publisher’s  experience with episodic content, were influential in the decision to release on the 360 first.

“To be honest, because of the success we had on the 360 with Worms, it made perfect sense to approach Microsoft with Alien Breed first,” said Baldwin.

“We were considering the episodic approach and wanted to talk to people who had experienced it, and Microsoft were really good. We had some great discussions and things just moved on from there.”

Ever the diplomat, Baldwin was also keen to stress that Team 17 is pleased to be working with Sony as well as Microsoft.

“For the record we have a great working relationship with Sony and we can’t wait for Alien Breed to hit there,” he added.

“We are expecting Episode 1 of Alien Breed to hit PSN some time 2nd quarter 2010 and PC to hit 1st Quarter.”

Bad news for Wii owners, however, as Baldwin revealed the company has no plans to release the classic top-down shooter on WiiWare.
