Playing with companions and romancing them in Baldur’s Gate 3 is just one component that makes the game amazing. So the question is: can you companion and romance Alfira, the Tiefling Bard, in BG3?
How to romance Alfira in Baldur’s Gate 3
Unfortunately, you can’t romance Alfira in Baldur’s Gate 3. I know, I’m heartbroken as well.
Alfira is one of my favorite NPCs in Baldur’s Gate 3, especially because she’s a Bard just like I am. She’s a beautiful character with a rich story as shown in Act 1 as you help her write a song. All of this makes the unfortunate truth that you can’t romance her even more painful.

As phenomenal a job as Larian Studios did making BG3, one thing I wish they included was a way to romance Alfira. She is a very unique character which is saying a lot as far as BG3 NPCs go, and I think a romance path with her would’ve been really special. Hopefully, modders make it happen soon. But, at least you can have her as a companion, right?
How to companion Alfira in Baldur’s Gate 3
Actually, no, Alfira can’t be a companion in Baldur’s Gate 3. I can somewhat get behind not being able to romance Alfira, but not being able to have her as a companion seems like such a missed opportunity.
There are no Bard Origin Characters or companions, besides a Hireling, in the entirety of Baldur’s Gate 3. Being as developed as she is as a character, Alfira would’ve made for an amazing Origin Character, especially because the role of Bard isn’t filled by anyone throughout the entire story.
There is an “Alfira as Hireling” mod that gives you a Bard Hireling that is identical to Alfira, but it’s not the same. It would’ve been amazing to have Alfira as a companion and be able to romance her, but at least we have a great list of companions as is.
