Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms is a high-fantasy action-RPG set in a world inspired by the Middle Ages. It was a dark period for humanity, as is clearly reflected in the game’s aesthetic. The game is planned for release in 2020, but a teaser trailer has just been revealed.
In the trailer, you get a feel for Alaloth‘s visual style, as well as see a little bit of gameplay. The developer, Gamera Interactive, has described it as the “first isometric souls-like game ever made”. A more challenging isometric experience does sound like something worth getting excited about.
Gamera has said you won’t be mashing keys as you wade through mindless mobs of enemies. Combat will be more intense. You will need to pay attention and think about your moves. The game will also have some unique combat features in the game, such as mutilations and executions.
Everyone will start the game as a melee fighter. But before long, you will have to choose a Way to define your character development. The Way you follow will be how you choose your class. There are three to choose from: The Way of Arms, the Way of Gods, and the Way of Nature.
The world of Alaloth
High fantasy means Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms will give players a whole new world to explore. This world comes with new laws, new political dynamics, and new gods. There are four playable races: Humans, Elves, Dwarves, and Orcs. Plus, there are over 40 houses and clans for you to interact with. You will become entangled in their politics, champion their causes, or fight against them. It’s entirely up to you, as this game lets you be a hero or a villain. To get a taste of the history of this world and your role in it, you can check out the also-new story trailer.
Gamera Interactive has recently picked up a publishing partner in the form of All in! Games. All in! Games were impressed with the strong foundation and rich lore already present in the game. Not surprising, considering Chris Avellone has provided the game with creative support. Avellone is an RPG legend, having worked on titles like Pillars of Eternity, Divinity: Original Sin II, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, to name just a few of his notable works.
All in! Games and Gamera Interactive plan to release Alaloth: Champions of the Four Kingdoms in 2020 on PC. For now, you can add it to your Steam wishlist.
