Codemasters has confirmed it is working on a cricket title to coincide with The Ashes this year.
Speaking to GameSpot UK (via Kotaku), Codies has revealed Australian developer, Transmission Games, are currently handling development and aim to have the title ready for the start of the cricket season.
“The Ashes is one of the iconic challenges in world sport. With cricket set to dominate the sporting calendar this summer, we’re delighted to be able to give cricket fans the chance to follow in the footsteps of their heroes and try and win back the Ashes for England,” said English Cricket Board commercial director, John Perera.
The title will include all the official licenses for the English and Australian international teams, as well as the rights to The Ashes name, courtesy of the Marylebone Cricket Club.
Also included are 18 stadiums spanning 12 countries and include The Gabba and the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Players will also be able to kit their team out with over 100 pieces of licensed gear.
But it’s not only The Ashes up to play, there will also be other tests, one-day internationals and Twenty20 matches between international sides.
For those of you that don’t know anything about cricket, there will be training modes and commentary as well as tutorials from cricket Gods such as Sir Ian Botham. Just make sure you have your Shredded Wheat at hand.
The title will be released on 360, PS3 and PC this summer, and as soon as we have any more on this title we’ll let you know.
