Umbra software licensed for Alan Wake

Remedy has today announced the highly-anticipated Alan Wake will utilise the rendering software, Umbra.

The software can increase the potential of the rendering performance in 3D games, and in turn substantially improves framerate.

“Umbra gave a significant boost in rendering performance on the Xbox 360, and at the same time made our content creation faster.” said Remedy Entertainment’s development director Markus Mäki.

“Remedy’s team can add more details to Alan Wake’s world and concentrate on the cool visuals” he said.

Alan Wake will be released on Xbox 360 and PC. No release date has been confirmed.
