Robert Bowling has pulled the plug on his studio Robotoki.
Robert Bowling, who worked on Call of Duty at Infinity Ward before forming Robotki, has decided to pull the plug on the studio. Robotiki were working on Human Elelemnt which was going to be a free to play PC title due for release this year but decided to ditch the free to play model.
Late last year publisher Nexon pulled out of their publishing agreement following the decision to make the game a premium release.
A statement from Robert Bowling issued to Joystiq reads:
“This week we have ceased operations at Robotoki and the development of Human Element is on hiatus. We were actively negotiating a new publishing deal for the premium version of Human Element but unfortunately I was unable to continue to self-fund development until a deal was finalized.”
It looks like Human Element, which is a survival title set 35 years after a zombie apocalypse, might never see the light of day and Robotiki may have joined the zombie game development action a little too late for a publisher to pick this one up. There are now so many of these survival/zombie titles now it’s hard to keep up.
In case you missed the premiere video which was released in December, here it is again.
