Those of you who don’t own a copy of Dragon Age: Origins can now do so for free, courtesy of one of Origin’s periodic ‘On the House’ offers. Until 14 October, the first in BioWare’s fantasy RPG series can be had for free. As long as you have an Origin account or are willing to make one, of course.
To claim a copy, just head over to Origin, be logged in, and add the game to your account. The ability to do this will disappear on 14 October, but as long as you grab the game before that date you’ll have a copy of Dragon Age: Origins for ever and ever. Or until EA shuts down Origin, or the sun explodes or whatever.
This promotion is obviously to get people into the Dragon Age series before Dragon Age: Inquisition launches in November, and (since the free one doesn’t come with any DLC) may also be a cunning way to shift a few add-ons for an older game. Still, I’m not going to complain too much about EA giving away lengthy RPGs. It’s more interesting than another Plants vs Zombies or Bejeweled giveaway.
The Dragon Age: Inquisition twitter feed was teasing “big PC news” for this week. Whether that was a reference to this Origin freebie or other, upcoming, Inquisition news (system specs, maybe) isn’t yet clear.
