Fancy helping balance and polish Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon before it launches later this year? If so, developer Slitherine wants you to sign up for the beta.

Be warned, though – it might not be for everyone. Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon is a hex-based strategy game, and Slitherine generally makes deeply complex wargames. That said, Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon is also due out on iOS, so… maybe it won’t be too complex? Okay, no, it probably will be.

Still, it looks like something a bit special. Set during the Second War for Armageddon, you’ll lead the Imperial forces – composed of the local Imperial Guard, plus a mix of Blood Angels, Salamanders, and Ultramarines chapters of Space Marines – against the Ork invasion of Warboss Grazghkull Mag Uruk Thraka. It’s a turn-based hex-based strategy game with a branching 30-mission campaign, a complex storyline, experience and equipment carry over between missions, over 100 unit types, etc. There’s a lot of stuff, basically, and it sounds kinda neat.

It’s also got separate maps for Slitherine’s PBEM++ multiplayer and mod support through a game editor, which is always nice to hear.

If you want to sign up, you can do so over here. Warhammer 40,000: Armageddon is due out later this year.
