It’s been an exciting few months for Paradox with all their recent announcements and today at GDC Obsidian revealed they’re joining forces with the publisher for their Kickstarted RPG Pillars of Eternity.
The two companies will be working together with Obsidian retaining the IP rights for Pillars of Eternity and Paradox working with them on the marketing and distribution responsibilities.
The partnership will give Obsidian more time to concentrate on the game’s development without getting bogged down with the important job of driving sales.
As far as the game’s development goes, there’s no change. Paradox are not involved with its development and the game is still on schedule for launch later this year.
Obsidian say that the partnership puts them in a “better position to create more Eternity content (DLC/Sequels)” which is good news for Obsidian RPG fans. Another reason Paradox has been joined the party is their knowledge of the European market so at least we know gamers this side of the pond will be well looked after.
The news has been well received by backers of the game who are pleased a company such as Paradox are involved as they understand the PC gaming market.
