A few days ago we posted about HAWKEN making  a permanent move to Steam and it’s has now made the transition.
The mech shooter is currently closed off to new players while this move takes place so that all active players can get the game downloaded and installed to play through the Steam client.
All active players have now been sent an email by Meteor which includes a Steam key to get the game activated on player’s Steam accounts. Simple slam in the key and HAWKEN will install through the Steam client.
The launcher that was previously used has now been shut down so Steam is the the only way to get in on the action. Once Meteor are satisfied that most players have made the move the Steam version will be opened up to one and all.
With any luck the move will help drive more players to the game which was the reason behind Meteor’s decision to bring the game exclusively to Steam. We’ll have to wait and see if this was the right decision but it does make sense at this stage in the game’s life cycle.
Check the transition guide if you are in doubt about any of the above.
