Stasis

Just look at how lovely and isometric that is.

Christopher Bischoff’s isometric, sci-fi horror adventure Stasis will be making its dimly lit way to PCs across the land, thanks to $100,000 USD in Kickstarter funding that has been secured today. You can look forward to “horrific experimentation” and “illicit research” (well, it is tough to get grant money these days) as you take on the role of John Maracheck.

Maracheck is trying to save his family from whatever terrible accident has according on the desolate spaceship on which the game is set, and has the per-requisite, point-and-click adventure skillset (plus inventory) to do just that. The isometric viewpoint is rather unusual for an adventure game, but when you have isometric art as fine as the kind on show in Stasis you may as well apply it to every genre if you can.

There are a couple of days left in the Kickstarter campaign, so it’s still possible that Stasis will get an extended Mark Morgan (Fallout, Planescape: Torment) soundtrack at $120,000. Morgan is going to be scoring the game no matter what happens, but presumably that little bit of extra cash will help make the tunes that much better.

If you fancy giving Stasis a go, there’s an alpha version you can download and play right now. Be aware that if you’re on Windows XP there are a couple of extra steps to take when installing.
