When Chris Roberts set out on his Kickstarter journey with Star Citizen you can bet he wasn’t banking on raising $14 million.
In just three days RSI had raised a further $1 million, taking the total to the $14 million mark, which is quite phenomenal. The “grace period” for backing the game has now ended so special packages offered for Veterans which means RSI will be offering different insurance package from the ones offered to the Original and Veteran backers.
By reaching the $14m goal, another feature was unlocked, Hibernation Mode which gives players the ability to shut down their craft in space and resume later. A “Behind the Scenes of Star Citizen” of the making of the game will now also be created. So what’s next?
The $15m goal has already been revealed as an additional flyable class and a 42 page manual explaining how to upgrade ships.
RSI has now revealed the $16m goal which will include an arena mode to take on other pilots in a “simulation”, and a laser pistol to anyone who pledges before this new goal.
We have little doubt that the new goal will be reached, the campaign just keeps going from strength to strength which is fantastic news for PC gamers. This is one game that’s being especially designed to take advantage of PC power.
It’s also a space sim which gets us rather excited.
