How to get Ellen Joe the shark girl in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ)

Calling all shark fans!

Hoyoverse has their character designs down to a science, so it’s no surprise that players want all of them. If you’re interested in Ellen Joe the Shark Girl, let me show you how to get her in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ).

Ellen is locked behind the Signal Search, ZZZ’s Gacha system. If you’ve just started the game, you’ll unlock this feature after the first few introductory quests.

You can only get Ellen from the Exclusive Channel (pictured above). As this is a Gacha system, it’s all luck-based. There’s a pity system in ZZZ, and you’re guaranteed an S-Rank unit after 90 Searches. That S-Rank character has a 50% chance of being Ellen, but it can also be several other units.

The odds are stacked against you, but the good news is the game showers you with currency as a new player. There are also a few codes floating around, so check these out, as they don’t last forever.

Ellen Joe doesn’t last forever, either. Characters brought into the Exclusive Channel are limited-time only characters. When a new character is brought into the Exclusive Channel, we won’t know when the next time will be for us to try and pull Ellen Joe. Because of that, you need to act fast to get the shark girl!

Is Ellen a good character in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ)?

It’s a little early to say with authority, but early reports and testing suggest that Ellen is the best damage dealer in the game. This rating should come as no surprise if you’ve played other Hoyoverse games.

In Honkai Star Rail, for example, Seele was the featured unit at launch and was the best DPS character for a while. On that note, Seele has long since been overshadowed by new units, and I expect we’ll see that eventually with Ellen.

Should I pull for Ellen in Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ)?

Ellen may be strong, but the meta is particularly volatile as ZZZ has just launched. If you like Ellen’s style and aesthetics, try your luck and see if you can get her.

You can even try Ellen out to see if you enjoy her gameplay. Scroll over to the Events tab and choose The Final Callback (pictured above) to take her for a spin.

Another feature of Hoyoverse games we can expect in ZZZ is the balancing. You shouldn’t need meta units to progress through the game, so don’t feel like you’re forced to get Ellen to enjoy yourself. That said, try to pull her if you want her because she’s only here for a limited time and we won’t know when she’ll return when a new character comes in.
