The Land of Shadow is a dangerous place in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, and your existing build won’t be enough to contend with the dozens of bosses waiting for you in the DLC. Instead, Shadow of the Erdtree has a unique progression system involving new items called Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ashes that will make you even stronger.

How to use Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ashes to level up in Elden Ring SotE
As you collect Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ashes, a new option will become available when you rest at a Site of Grace that will allow you to enhance your Scadutree Blessing. This will consume a certain number of Scadutree Fragments or Revered Spirit Ashes (the cost increases as you reach higher levels) to boost your overall stats and increase the strength of your Spirit Ash summons. While Runes are still important, this is the main way you level up in Shadow of the Erdtree.
This stat buff will only be active in the DLC zones, however, so it doesn’t affect the base game. Your adjusted stats will be marked in yellow when you open the character menu. The stat buff is permanent, so seeking out Scadutree Fragments and Revered Spirit Ashes is crucial to survival in Shadow of the Erdtree.
All Scadutree Fragment Locations in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
Scadutree Fragments can be found all over the map in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree, but as a general rule of thumb, they can always be found in a few places. Every Miquella Cross will always have a Scadutree Fragment for you, and ghostly enemies carrying pots will always drop a Scadutree Fragment upon first defeat. Keep an eye out for these pot-carrying enemies since most players tend to ignore them.
Gravesite Plain
These are all of the Scadutree Fragments that we’ve found in the starting Gravesite Plain region of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Church of Consolation
The first set of Scadutree Fragments you can find in the Gravesite Plain region is at the Church of Consolation, a small building found in the southeastern corner of the area. You can access the Church of Consolation right from the start of the DLC like we did, but be careful. The enemies guarding it — particularly a black knight — are super tough. If you run in and head to the statue, though, you’ll be rewarded with two Scadutree Fragments.
Cliffroad Terminus
There’s a Scadutree Fragment overlooking the coast to the west of the Cliffroad Terminus Site of Grace. You can reach it right from the start of the DLC.
Scorched Ruins
There’s a small group of ghostly enemies at a tiny graveyard to the east of the Scorched Ruins at the heart of the Gravesite Plain region. One of these enemies is carrying a pot, so you’ll get a free Scadutree Fragment if you kill them. Be quick about it though, because pot-carrying enemies can flee and despawn.
Three-Path Cross
The Three-Path Cross where you meet Redmane Freyja is home to another Scadutree Fragment. It’s along the main road so you can’t miss it.
Pillar Path Cross
On the eastern edge of the region is the Pillar Path Cross, home to an important NPC named Tholier. To reach it, you have to cross the Ellac Greatbridge and reach the entrance to Castle Ensis. After reaching the Castle Front, just head south along the road.
Belurat, Tower Settlement
The Belurat, Tower Settlement dungeon in the Gravesite Plain region is home to a hidden Miquella Cross and Scadutree Fragment. After reaching the Small Private Altar Site of Grace, continue along the main path of the dungeon until you reach the rooftops with the bird enemies. Instead of heading across the rooftops toward the Stagefront Site of Grace, head left to find a swarm of small scorpions.
The scorpions are guarding a room with two larger scorpions, but that’s not important right now. Instead, look to the pile of rubble to the right of the scorpion room. Jump over it to find a small door leading to a room with some insectoid enemies. Inside, you’ll find the Scadutree Fragment.
Main Gate Cross
You can find a Scadutree Fragment at the Main Gate Cross at the entrance to the Belurat, Tower Settlement dungeon.
Castle Front
While you can run straight through the enemy encampment to reach the Castle Front Site of Grace at the entrance to Castle Ensis, there’s a Scadutree Fragment tucked away within it. It’s at the foot of a tall statue.
Castle Ensis Checkpoint
This Scadutree Fragment is located near a Miquella Cross in the middle of the Castle Ensis dungeon. It’s right at the Castle Ensis Checkpoint Site of Grace along the main path so you can’t miss it.
Spiral Rise Cross
You can find a Scadutree Fragment at the Miquella Cross near the Spiral Rise Site of Grace.
Spiral Rise
There is another Scadutree Fragment near the Spiral Rise Site of Grace. To reach it, proceed east from the Grace and you’ll find the Inquisitor Ashes. From there, keep dropping down until you can jump to a nearby building. Then, continue to drop down even further and you’ll find the Scadutree Fragment inside an open window.
Top of Spiral Rise
There’s yet another Scadutree Fragment in Spiral Rise near the Site of Grace. Just keep climbing until you reach the big bird enemies. The Scadutree Fragment is just past them along the main path.
Cleansing Chamber Anteroom
There is a Scadutree Fragment waiting for you at the Cleansing Chamber Anteroom Site of Grace along the main path.
Scadu Atlus
These are all the Scadutree Fragments that we’ve found in Scadu Atlus, the second major region of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Highroad Cross
Another Cross, another Scadutree Fragment. The Highroad Cross is located just outside of Castle Ensis, and it’s the first Site of Grace that you’ll find after defeating Rellana, Twin Moon Knight. There’s no way you’ll miss this one.
Moorth Ruins
If you pick up the Monk’s Missive note at the Highroad Cross, then your journey will take you eastward to Moorth Ruins next. This is where you can unlock Dryleaf Arts, the first Hand-to-Hand combat style in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. There’s also a Scadutree Fragment and Miquella Cross here.
Scaduview Cross
Located at the southern tip of Scadu Atlus, the Scadutree Cross has another Scadutree Fragment for you to collect. It’s up high on a cliff, though, so you’ll need to unlock the nearby sealed spiritspring in order to access it. The spiritspring is located on the northern side of the cliff near the active battle with the Ghostflame Dragon. To unlock it, follow the cliffside east and destroy the not-so-hidden cairn.
Church of the Crusade
There are two Scadutree Fragments inside the Church of the Crusade.
Shadow Keep Camp
You can find a Scadutree Fragment near a statue of Marika in the encampment near the entrance to the Shadow Keep. Watch out for the Furnace Golem.
West of Moorth Ruins
To the west of Moorth Ruins, there’s a small encampment with a Scadutree Fragment sitting near a statue of Marika.
East of Moorth Ruins
To the east of Moorth Ruins, there’s a shadow pot enemy holding a Scadutree Fragment behind a building.
Scaduview Cross
A Scadutree Fragment is waiting for you at the Scaduview Cross Site of Grace. You’ll need to unlock a sealed spiritspring in order to access it.
North of Moorth Ruins
To the north of Moorth Ruins, there’s a shallow lake with a Scadutree Fragment near a statue of Marika.
Golden Hippopotamus
Defeating the Golden Hippopotamus boss at the entrance to the Shadow Keep dungeon will reward you with two Scadutree Fragments.
Storehouse, Fourth Floor
The Storehouse, Fourth Floor Site of Grace has a Scadutree Fragment along the main path through the dungeon.
Specimen Storehouse
You can find another Scadutree Fragment on the eighth floor of the Specimen Storehouse area of the Shadow Keep guarded by a red knight.
Shadow Keep Church District
There is a Scadutree Fragment near the Shadow Keep Church District Site of Grace by a statue of Marika.
Shadow Keep, Back Gate
The Shadow Keep, Back Gate Site of Grace has a statue of Marika containing another Scadutree Fragement.
Commander Gaius
If you manage to defeat Commander Gaius near the Shadow Keep, Back Gate Site of Grace, continue forward along the path to obtain a whopping five Scadutree Fragments for your trouble.
Ruins of Unte
You can find a Scadutree Fragment at the bottom of a waterfall near the Ruins of Unte by the Shadow Keep.
Golden Hippopotamuses
There are two lesser Golden Hippopotamuses in a shallow lake south of the Cathedral of Manus Metyr. Defeating them will net you a Scadutree Fragment.
Southern Shore
There are only four Scadutree Fragments to discover in the Southern Shore region of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
Cerulean Coast
The Cerulean Coast Site of Grace has a Scadutree Fragment for you to collect. It’s a major Site of Grace for the region, so you can’t miss it.
Fissure Cross
There’s a Miquella Cross near the Fissure Cross Site of Grace in the Stone Coffin Fissure dungeon with a Scadutree Fragment. To access the dungeon, head to the southern peninsula of of the Cerulean Coast and drop down into the cave.
Northern Cave
There’s a Scadutree Fragment in a small cave to the north of Charo’s Hidden Grave.
Charo’s Hidden Grave
If you defeat the Golden Hippopotamus within Charo’s Hidden Grave on the northern side of the Southern Shore region, you’ll be rewarded with a Scadutree Fragment.
Jagged Peaks
There’s only one Scadutree Fragment to find in the Jagged Peaks area. It’s located at the top of the hill past the rolling boulders along the main path through the area.
Ancient Ruins of Rauh
There are five Scadutree Fragments to find in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Temple Town Ruins
There’s a Scadutree Fragment located on the upper floor of the Temple Town Ruins at the southern edge of the Ancient Ruins of Rauh.
Golden Hippopotamus
A Golden Hippopotamus can be found on the eastern side of the Ancient Ruins of Rauh. Defeating it will reward you with a Scadutree Fragment.
Spiritspring
You can find a Scadutree Fragment near the sealed spiritspring on the northern side of the region. Jump up the spiritspring and you’ll see a shadow pot enemy holding it.
Rauh Ancient Ruins, East
You can find a Scadutree Fragment near the Miquella Cross at the Rauh Ancient Ruins, East Site of Grace.
Rauh Ancient Ruins, West
There’s a Scadutree Fragment near the Rauh Ancient Ruins, West Site of Grace. Head up the stairs nearby and continue along the main path to find it.
Abyssal Woods
There are only two Scadutree Fragments to find in the Abyssal Woods region in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
Abandoned Church
The Abandoned Church at the eastern end of the Abyssal Woods has a pair of Scadutree Fragments for you to find.
Abyssal Woods Site of Grace
There’s a Scadutree Fragment along the path to the north from the Abyssal Woods Site of Grace.
All Revered Spirit Ash Locations in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree
Revered Spirit Ashes can be found all over the Land of Shadow in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. They tend to be a bit rarer than Scadutree Fragments, but thankfully, they’re not as essential since they only buff your Spirit Ash summons and not your overall stats.
Gravesite Plain
These are all the Revered Spirit Ashes we’ve found within the Gravesite Plain region of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

The first set of Revered Spirit Ashes that you can find in the Gravesite Plain region is at the entrance to the Belurat, Tower Settlement dungeon. There are two of them on a pedestal as soon as you enter the settlement.
Belurat, Tower Settlement
As you continue along the main path throughout Belurat, you’ll come across yet another Revered Spirit Ash on a statue guarded by a crowd of enemies near a big tree. It’s right before the stairwell leading to the Stagefront Site of Grace and it’s the only way to reach the final boss, so you can’t miss it.
Belurat Pot Enemy
A Revered Spirit Ash is dropped by a shadowy enemy holding a pot in the upper section of Belurat, Tower Settlement. It can be found near a covered bridge just before you face the second big knight enemy of the dungeon along the main path.
Divine Beast Dancing Lion
Finally, there’s one last Revered Spirit Ash waiting for you at the end of the Belurat dungeon. After defeating the Divine Beast Dancing Lion boss, continue through the door and you’ll see a statue with a Revered Spirit Ash straight ahead.
Cliffroad Terminus
There’s a Revered Spirit Ash to the west of the Scorched Ruins in the heart of the Gravesite Plain region. You can find it on a cliff near the Cliffroad Terminus Site of Grace, and it’s accessible right from the start of the DLC.
Scorched Ruins
To the east of the Scorched Ruins is yet another Revered Spirit Ash. This one is sitting on a corpse on a stone platform near the Church of Consolation.
Abandoned Ailing Village
The next Revered Spirith Ash in the Gravesite Plain region is located between Belurat and Castle Ensis at the Abandoned Ailing Village. More specifically, it’s on the lower cliff segment on the east side of the village. Don’t forget to stop by the Run-Down Traveler’s Shack nearby to pick up an important crafting recipe while you’re there.
Ellac River Cave
You can find another Revered Spirit Ash inside Ellac River Cave on the eastern side of the Gravesite Plain region. Just head to Castle Ensis and then follow the river south as if you were heading to the Cerulean Coast. You’ll find a statue with the Revered Spirit Ash next to the Ellac River Cave Site of Grace.
Scadu Atlus
There are six Revered Spirit Ash locations in the Scadu Atlus region of Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.

Moorth Ruins Cliff
The first Scadu Atlus Revered Spirit Ash can be found at the bottom of a pit between Moorth Ruins and Bonny Village.
East of Moorth Ruins
Another Revered Spirit Ash can be found east of Moorth Ruins near a statue overlooking a cliff.
Specimen Storehouse First Floor
There’s a Revered Spirit Ash on the first floor of the Specimen Storehouse area of the Shadow Keep dungeon. It’s located on top of one of the hanging beasts that you can jump on top of.
Specimen Storehouse Animal
Higher in the Specimen Storehouse is yet another Revered Spirit Ash, also located on top of a hanging animal. This one is along the main path through the dungeon, though, so it’s hard to miss.
Ruins of Unte
You can find a Revered Spirit Ash at a statue near the Ruins of Unte. To access this area, you need to use the coffin in the Shadow Keep to reach the Castle Watering Hole Site of Grace.
Village of Flies
The final Scadu Atlus Revered Spirit Ash is located at the Village of Flies. Just head south from the Recluses River Downstream Site of Grace and you’ll find a statue with the Revered Spirit Ash.
Ancient Ruins of Rauh
The Ancient Ruins of Rauh contains four Revered Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
Temple Town Ruins
The Temple Town Ruins are home to a Revered Spirit Ash. You can find it on a statue overlooking a cliff on the southern side of the area.
Pot Enemy East
A ghostly pot-wielding enemy is holding a Revered Spirit Ash in the northeastern section of the region. You can find it in the caves near the beginning of the area if you enter Rauh from the Shadow Keep.
Pot Enemy West
You can obtain another Revered Spirit Ash by slaying a pot-wielding enemy in the western half of the region.
Rauh Ancient Ruins, West
There’s a Revered Spirit Ash statue near the Rauh Ancient Ruins, West Site of Grace. It’s in a stone pavilion guarded by strong knight enemies.
Abyssal Woods
The Abyssal Woods are home to only two Revered Spirit Ashes in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
Midra’s Manse Inquisitor
The only Revered Spirit Ashes in the Abyssal Woods are found in Midra’s Manse. The first is obtained by defeating an Inquisitor in the library section of Midra’s Manse.
Second Floor Chamber
The other Abyssal Woods Revered Spirt Ash is also located in Midra’s Manse. You can find it on top of a chandelier near the Second Floor Chamber Site of Grace.
Ener-Ilim
There are three Revered Spirit Ashes to find in Ener-Ilim, one of the final zones in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree. You need to defeat Romina, Saint of the Bud in the Ancient Ruins of Rauh and burn the sealing tree with Messmer’s Kindling to access it.
First Rise Inquisitor
Near the First Rise Site of Grace, you can find an Inquisitor enemy that will drop a Revered Spirit Ash upon defeat.
First Rise Statue
A pair of Revered Spirit Ashes can be found near the First Rise Site of Grace as well. Just head east down the stairs after defeating the Inquisitor and continue along the path until you reach a room with several insectoid enemies guarding a statue holding the Revered Spirit Ashes.
Spiral Rise
There’s a Revered Spirit Ash near the Spiral Rise Site of Grace. Just head up the tower and onto the nearby rooftops to find this Revered Spirit Ash on a statue inside a dark room.
