How to recover MP in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance

Running low.

One problem you may have while playing Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is figuring out how to recover MP. While there are numerous easy ways to get HP back, why is MP so difficult to sustain? I’ll explain more about recovering your MP in SMTV: Vengeance below.

During the early hours of your gameplay with SMTV: Vengeance, you’ll quickly realize just how easy it is to run out of MP. Even in the new Canon of Vengeance storyline, you’ll struggle to earn back MP. How you can recover MP in Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance is by picking up the yellow Magatsuhi Crystals, spending Macca at a Leyline Fount, or unlocking Miracles and Passive Skills that help with MP.

The easiest way to earn a little bit of MP back after a combat encounter is to pick up yellow Magatsuhi Crystals. While the yellow ones recover your MP, the green ones are for your HP and the red ones increase your Magatsuhi bar. It doesn’t improve your MP by a lot, but a little can go a long way.

Another way you can increase your MP is to spend Macca at a Leyline Fount. Using a small amount of Macca, your main currency in SMTV: Vengeance, at the Leyline Founts will restore your party’s HP and MP. It’s also good for reviving dead demons who have fallen in battle.

Since you won’t come by many MP consumables, I’d rely on these two methods. Other than that, unlocking Miracles that improve your MP consumption and regeneration will come in handy. Here are a few that you should look out for:

  • Invigorating Defense: Your ally’s MP will recover when guarding.
  • Magatsuhi Wellspring: If your Magatsuhi bar is full at the start of your turn, allies will recover a small amount of HP and MP.
  • Empowering Cheer: Recovers HP and MP after leveling up.

There are also Passive Skills you can earn that will help you recover MP, you just have to unlock them first:

  • Mana Aid: Recover MP after a battle.
  • High Restore: Recover MP after striking a foe’s weakness or landing a Critical.
  • Great Curse Siphon: Recover MP after inflicting status ailments.
  • Mana Spring: Increases max MP.

Recovering MP isn’t the only difficult aspect of Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance. I also had a pretty tough time talking and negotiating with demons.
