How to unlock Agent Smith in MultiVersus

Since MutliVersus is a free-to-play brawler, many things can be earned just by playing or by leveling up the battle pass. Of those free things, you can earn characters. Some new characters, like Agent Smith from The Matrix, are appearing at a later date. However you can unlock Agent Smith early on MultiVersus, and we’ll show you how that’s done.

MultiVersus: How to unlock Agent Smith

If you want to go the old-fashioned way, you have to play the waiting game because he is a post-launch character. But to get him at launch, you’re going to have to do a lot more than unlocking Arya Stark. To unlock Agent Smith, play on the PVE Rift mode. This was not in the Open Beta and is entirely new. But to earn Agent Smith in the Rift, you have to clear instances that have bosses in them. 

The Rifts usually are challenges that are built like mini-games. It’s set up like a board game, so for each stage, you complete alone or with friends you earn rewards like in-game currency. Then, at the end, you face a boss. As mentioned, you need to beat multiple bosses to unlock the villain from The Matrix.

Additionally, while you’re grinding away for the character, you’ll also earn perks, fighter currency, and other skin variants for Agent Smith that aren’t available any other way. So, while waiting could work, participating in the “Get Agent Smith Free” event might be a good idea. 

How long will the event run for?

Currently, it seems to run till the end of June. After that, he’ll be added to the character shop where you can buy via in-game money. However, it might be safe to assume that Warner Bros will you another chance to earn him for free before dropping him in the store.
