Ranking all Ultra abilities in XDefiant

Keep in mind that even though this is a ranking list, all Ultra abilities can be helpful in different situations. You may find the worst-ranked Ultra ability to work perfectly for your playstyle, while number one may not work for you. With that out of the way, here is our ranking of all Ultra abilities in XDefiant.

5. The Purifier (Cleaners)

As previously mentioned, all Ultra abilities have their own purpose and can be helpful. That said, out of all five, the Cleaners faction Ultra is the worst. Cleaners come equipped with The Purifier which activates a flamethrower they can use to set their opponents ablaze. It does an insane amount of damage, yes, but it’s pretty easy for your opponent to avoid.

4. Aegis (Phantoms)

If you’re looking for a defensive Ultra ability, you’ll want to select the Phantoms faction which comes equipped with Aegis. The Aegis Ultra creates a plasma shield, equipped with an electro-scattergun, that is perfect for close-quarters combat. While this is incredibly beneficial for staying alive, it’s only really helpful in the smaller maps such as Arena, or game modes like Domination and Occupy.

3. Medico Supremo (Libertad)

Every team needs a good healer and the Libertad Ultra ability, Medico Supremo, can bring your healing capabilities to the next level. When activating this Ultra ability, players will come equipped with a backpack that provides a massive health and healing boost for a limited time. This Ultra is recommended for players who consider themselves lower in skill than the average first-person shooter gamer.

2. Lockout (DedSec)

The Dedsec faction’s Ultra ability is Lockout and it can be a huge lifesaver in game modes such as Domination or Occupy. Lockout completely blocks other players from using their Ultra and standard abilities in a certain area, essentially causing other players to become weaker overall. This is especially helpful against the next Ultra on this list, Sonar Goggles. The only downfall is that Lockout only works in a small area of effect and not the entire map.

1. Sonar Goggles (Echelon)

The absolute best Ultra ability in XDefiant is the Sonar Goggles, exclusive to the Echelon faction. The Sonar Goggles Ultra ability reveals enemies on the map, allowing the player to see opponents’ locations through walls. This essentially allows you to plan your next move to go in for the kill, flank your opponents, and rack up a kill streak. If you ever wondered how a player on the other team is getting kills so quickly, it’s most likely because they have Sonar Goggles activated.

An Ultra ability can only get you so far in combat and weapons are just as important. Check out our guide on the fastest ways to level up weapons to prepare you for the challenge that lies ahead.
