Best games like Little Kitty, Big City

Hungry for more?

Little Kitty, Big City is a joy to play and complete, however, it is on the shorter side. Once you’re finished with all the achievements, you may be looking to other games to scratch this new itch.

Untitled Goose Game

Likely the closest game on this list, Untitled Goose Game was a smash hit when it was released in 2020. You will play as a Goose whose sole mission is to cause and spread mischief.

Like Little Kitty, Big City, you’ll have the freedom to do whatever you wish, although there is a to-do list that the Goose wants complete. This list will have activities that range from stealing things, inconveniencing people, and even having a picnic.

It’s adorable, charming, and effortlessly funny, just like Little Kitty, Big City.

Lil Gator Game

Playing as an animal? Check. Freedom to explore a large island? Check. Many animal friends? Check. A long list of things to do? Check.

Like Untitled Goose Game, Lil Gator Game is almost as similar a game as you’ll get. Everything you love about Little Kitty, Big City can be found here, apart from being able to play as a cat. There is lots of freedom to be found, with many ways to travel around to get to where you want to go. Although nothing will trump Tanuki and her portals in my opinion.

With the island as your playground, you’ll be able to get up to whatever you want to get up to.

Donut County

Donut County is pretty strange and almost impossible to compare to Little Kitty, Big City. However, the same puzzle-solving, great aesthetic, lovable friends, and infinitely fun features are present in both.

Although you play not as a cat but as a literal hole in Donut County, fans of one game will enjoy the other. Sure, Donut County is much more abstract, but if you enjoyed the abundant problem-solving found in Little Kitty, Big City, you’ll have a good time.

I’m surprised by the amount of creativity that went into Donut County, just as I was surprised about the amount of fun Little Kitty, Big City provided.

A Short Hike

The calming and relaxing vibes of Little Kitty, Big City are matched by only a few – and A Short Hike is one of them. In fact, those vibes are significantly amplified. In both games, you have a simple goal, but it’s the journey you take to get there that matters.

A Short Hike is, well, pretty short, just like Little Kitty, Big City, but the enjoyment you’ll glean makes up for it. Although A Short Hike is much more relaxing, and there isn’t a long list of to-dos or achievements to keep you problem-solving and running into mischief, there are still charming friends to make and other activities.

If you enjoyed the exploration and freedom of movement Little Kitty, Big City gave you, then A Short Hike should be your next consideration.

Calico

Although Calico isn’t an animal sim where you get up to mischief, both games have adorable animals, cute interactions, and generally a great vibe. In Calico, you’ll be trying to rebuild a cat café and fill it with cuddly animals.

You’ll get to design the café however you want and will get to have fun in any way you see fit. As long as you’re up for having a good time with a large host of friendly animals, then you’ll fit in just fine.

If the adorable animals and wackiness of Little Kitty, Big City were what sold you, then Calico will be the perfect next game to play.

Stray

Stray has been many peoples’ “the cat game” for a while. In Stray, you’ll be playing as small cat in a big cyberpunk city. Now why is that familiar…

You’ll be able to explore the city as you embark on your quest home. Although the stakes and scenery have been taken up a notch, that same feeling of being a cat in a larger-than-life city is still the same.

You may not be able to warp space-time, but if you enjoyed the exploration, then Stray will deliver for you so much more than Little Kitty, Big City did.

Ooblets

Although you’ll have more responsibility in Ooblets, the fun and chaos are also increased. Although in theme and activity, Ooblets is rather estranged from Little Kitty, Big City, that same silly and relaxing fun is to be had.

You’ll explore strange lands, manage a farm, collect and train Ooblets, and even have dance-offs. Part of the fun in Little Kitty, Big City is collecting all the cat-chievements and taking part in city life. In Ooblets, that same enjoyment can be had by collecting these strange and adorable creatures and embarking on adventures.

It’s one of those things where you’ll know it when you play it.

Wobbly Life

If you agree that Little Kitty, Big City would be greatly improved with multiplayer, then check out Wobbly Life. In this huge sandbox, there is so much to do that trying to keep track of it like in Little Kitty, Big City would drive you mad.

If you’re one for exploring all of a sandbox’s content, then be prepared to buddy up. Take on Indiana Jones-style crypts, fight fires, find secrets, and have a lot of fun.

Although Little Kitty, Big City makes for a fine and manageable sandbox adventure, Wobbly Life takes the fun and ridiculousness and blows them out of proportion.

Spirit of the North

You’ll be playing as a fox in Spirit of the North, which is close enough right? Although it isn’t a sandbox with an adorable cast of characters and mischief, Spirit of the North offers a more compelling and silently emotional journey.

One of the things I enjoyed about Little Kitty, Big City was the movement and freedom of exploration, something that Spirit of the North excels at. Tanuki may not be there to help out, but the guardian of the Northern Lights is, which is (almost) a good substitute.

If you’re ready to take your exploration out of the big city for the freedom of Iceland, then Spirit of the North may be a good game to start with.

Goat Simulator 3

The Goat Simulator franchise is a notorious one. It’s the ultimate wacky sandbox that will have you performing the most ridiculous and zany acts – all as a goat.

Think of Goat Simulator 3 as Little Kitty, Big City’s strange cousin who is feared at the family reunion. The best part is that you can play with friends, to make those insane memories together.

Where Little Kitty, Big City has adorable friends and a more contained, relaxing sandbox, Goat Simulator 3 has crazy antics and a sprawling sandbox. So it’ll be waiting for you when you’re ready to take the next step.

With a list of great games that are similar to Little Kitty, Big City, you’ll be able to satisfy your cravings for more. Although I can’t promise they’ll have as many amazing hats.
