Sand Land: How to destroy rock formations

As soon as Beelzebub – that is, the character you control, of course – and Thief join forces with Rao – a human – you will all go for an adventure across Sand Land to find a new source of water in the south. How will you travel there? Well, using Rao’s car that has seen better days, a long time ago.

Along the ride, you will manage to spot several pathways that are blocked by rock formations. While Beelzebub will suggest ramming them at full speed with your car as a solution, the actual way to get rid of them is to make them explode. With a tank.

Getting the tank means stealing a tank

To get the tank, you will have to complete several missions after your car gets all of its tires flattened by a bunch of bandits. First, you will have to complete the Tank Repairs quest which will have you take control of Thief. You will have to steal some food rations to survive your way to your destination, but you will also get valuable intel about a King’s Army base storing a tank. And, of course, we will want to infiltrate that base to get that tank, which is much better suited for desert travel than a mere car.

Thanks to Rao and Thief’s distraction, you will be able to infiltrate the base with Beelzebub, which is not as hard as it sounds. All you need to do is sneak through the base and follow the objective marker – and of course, avoid the sight of enemy soldiers. Once you get to the tank, you will also meet Ann, a very intriguing mechanic who will join your party and actually get the tank going – it is in terrible conditions, of course.

Once you get possession of the tank, you will have to shoot the enemy forces surrounding the base. This shouldn’t pose a problem for you. Just be ready to use your tank shells on tanks and vehicles and your machine gun bullets on the soldiers on foot. Once you have escaped the base and their reinforcements, you will be able to rest only to face the Cargo Airship later.

Finally, once you get rid of the Cargo Airship, you will arrive at Sindo. Here, Ann will be able to fix the tank even further, and a strange cat by the name of Lassi will give you a device that will be able to shrink your tank so it can fit in your pocket and then resize it when needed.

This will unlock the full use of the tank which will, in turn, allow you to shoot certain rock formations to open up shortcuts and cave entrances. Be mindful that some rock formations will be stronger and will require more firepower, which you will wield later in the game.
