Taking things that are not yours will have its consequences. And today, you will be shot down by a giant ball. Nice. Here is how to beat the Cargo Airship boss in Sand Land.
Sand Land: How to beat the Cargo Airship boss
The Cargo Airship is the first former boss you will face in your first hours of Sand Land. You have already met all your party members – Rao, Thief, and Ann – and you have also successfully stolen a tank from the King’s Army – which I know sounds crazy, and that’s because it is. Of course, the Royal Army will not take this with kindness – albeit with a bit of incompetence – and they will have General Are take care of business. And by taking care of business, that means almost missing you and then doing a complete 180 to face you. Oh well, time to do some fighting.
Now, before you make Beelzebub use his overpowered fists to take care of business, this boss fight revolves around you using your newly acquired tank to destroy the watering needs of our fellow Cargo Airship. As soon as you shoot your first tank shell after being instructed to go to the top of a sand mound, the fight will begin, and you will face the most irritating aspect of aiming in video game history: vertical limitations.
What the game intends you to do when climbing that patch of sand is to be able to aim your tank shots directly at the Cargo Airship. However, as soon as you do so, then the Airship will come and try to shoot you to oblivion. The trick will be hiding behind rock formations in the area, making the ship come down to find you. I don’t know about you guys, but it’s nice to see that not only random video game goons lack any type of situational awareness, but also entire Airships.
Anyway, once the Airship drops low enough, you can shoot it out of the sky with every shell you’ve got. You can also try to surprise it from behind, allowing you to remain hidden and not have it shoot you and elevate itself out of your reach. Repeat this process and you will be able to take the Cargo Airship down. Sort of, you actually just destroy the giant round water container. What will destroy the Cargo Airship instead? Well, a cutscene and some quick-time events – smashing a button repeatedly, that is.
Once you do so, the Cargo Airship will be done and you will probably need to take care of your tank, it is pretty much falling apart, so it’s time to continue to your next adventure: fixing it.
