Everyone needs a major extreme makeover from time to time. No, I can’t afford a new house, but a haircut? Maybe. Here is how to customize your Guardian’s appearance in Destiny 2.

Destiny 2: How to change your appearance

Whether you are set on your current character’s appearance is up to you, but if you wish to give your Destiny 2 Guardian a new glow or change it completely, then it is a very simple process. After booting Destiny 2 and accessing the Character Selection screen, you will notice a new option appearing when hovering over your Guardian (whether it is a Titan, Hunter, or Warlock). Select that option and the Character Customization screen will appear where you will be able to change the following character appearance options:

  • Body: You will be able to change your Body Type entirely, which arguably is the biggest change you can make out of the four.
  • Face: Changing your face will also be possible. Nothing like having a fixed expression forever, am I right?
  • Hair: Getting a new haircut is finally possible in Destiny 2! Just remember to access the Gameplay tab in Settings and change the Helmet option to “Off in Non-Combat Zones”. Otherwise, you will never see your hair or your face again. And your markings. Anyway.
  • Marking: Do you regret the invasive Marking you originally picked? Well, time to remove it or even exchange it for another. Surely your Guardian will appreciate it.

How to change your race/origin in Destiny 2

The only character customization option that is not changeable after creating your character is the race/origin one. This could make sense since the different variables mentioned above do feature unique options for each origin – with Exos having Head Features instead of Hair because, well, they’re robots. This means that, if you create a Human character, you won’t be able to make it an Awoken or an Exo, and the other way around. So, if you are new to Destiny 2, be sure to pick your origin wisely.

You will be able to change your appearance as many times as you like moving forward, so contrary to changing your name – which you will now have a new opportunity to do – these changes are fully reversible. So be free to experiment with the customization options and get to experience the new Onslaught mode with a new face to be shot at.
