How to fix “oxcart is suspended till further notice” in Bakbattahl in Dragon’s Dogma 2

The oxcart has been down for quite some time!

Dragon’s Dogma 2 has a large map, and since there is almost zero fast-travel system, Oxcarts are very important. If you’re wondering how to get the oxcart running in Bakbattahl in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you have come to the right place.

When you first make it to Bakbattahl after a long trek, you may want to take an oxcart back to Vermund. However, you will receive a message informing you that you can’t use it now. The message states, “In light of the recent spate of monster attacks, oxcart service is suspended till further notice.”

While the game doesn’t initially tell you this, the note on the oxcart board refers to the Coral Snakes. In other words, to get the oxcart up and running in Bakbattahl, you must find the Coral Snakes’ hideout and stop them from raiding oxcarts in the area. To quickly find the Coral Snakes hideout, follow the side quest “Mercy Among Thieves,” which will lead you to the site through waypoints.

It is undetermined if you can stop the Coral Snakes without completing the Mercy Among Thieves quest. Instead of finding the Coral Snakes yourself, I recommend accepting the quest and following it.

Players can start the Mercy Among Thieves side quest right outside Checkpoint Rest Town, next to the gate that leads to Battahl.

You’ll notice a small village of residents hanging about, where one NPC will mention a group raiding oxcarts and stealing supplies in the area. For me, he was standing in front of the horse stable with a yellow and red sign.

After speaking with him, the Mercy Amount Thieves quest will begin. The good news is that this side quest is filled with waypoints, meaning you don’t have to find any area alone. Just follow the waypoints until the end of the quest, and once you complete it, the oxcart will be up and running at Bakbattahl.

With that out of the way, you can now take the Oxcart back and forth from Checkpoint Rest Town and Bakbattahl. This makes going back and forth between regions and vendors much easier.
