Dragon’s Dogma 2 players discover The Brine is the best weapon in the game

Take a step into the drink.

One of the funniest moments I’ve had so far in Dragon’s Dogma 2 was when I heard a Griffin scream, looked around, and saw a pile of feathers and folded wings getting swallowed by the red tendrils of the sea.

Apparently, I’m not the only one who has discovered that The Brine is the best weapon in Dragon’s Dogma 2.

How to use The Brine to get kills in Dragon’s Dogma 2

While my example with the Griffin was a random encounter where the Griffin died immediately before a fight could even begin, Ataniphor on Reddit found out that you can walk your enemies into deep water to allow The Brine to immediately defeat them. Ataniphor was able to do this with a Drake which is one of the hardest enemies in the game. The best part is, it doesn’t matter if you have the best Fighter build or if you’re any other Vocation.

As you can see in the video, if you do The Brine technique with bosses, you can get a lot of DCP and XP fast. Ataniphor got 8,099 XP and 211 DCP and they didn’t have to do anything.

This strategy works well with Drakes because when they do their fire-breathing attack, they walk backward. If you have them pinned against a body of water and they’re aiming at you, they can walk themselves into The Brine and immediately die.

You can do this with other enemies too if a body of water is around, but it’s not as easy as walking a Drake into The Brine. You may get lucky and have an enemy launch themselves into The Brine which is what happened to me, but that’s rare.

The only downside to having enemies die in The Brine is you can’t loot them. All bosses in Dragon’s Dogma 2 have very valuable items that you should loot after defeating them, but since The Brine takes the body, you’re left with nothing to loot.

If you’re just looking for DCP and XP, do The Brine technique, but if you’re less worried about that and more worried about the loot, unfortunately, The Brine isn’t the answer. Whether you use The Brine or not, make sure you’re prepared with the best bows, swords, and armor.
