When taking on the Tensions on the Highroad quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you must decide whether you should side with Simon or Raghnall. It’s tough to know who to trust, but we’ll tell you the truth behind this quest.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Tensions on the Highroad – Should you side with Simon or Raghnall?
As soon as you see Simon and Raghnall fighting in the Tensions on the Highroad quest, you may not know who you should side with. Raghnall tells you they’re not to be trusted, but is he telling the truth? You should side with Raghnall over Simon in this Dragon’s Dogma 2 side quest since Raghnall is speaking the truth about the treachery within this quest. This quest is also a good way to gain Affinity with Raghnall.
After taking Raghnall’s side, he’ll lead you somewhere if you want to learn the truth. Pursue Raghnall, and you’ll soon make it to a cave where you’ll be separated from your Pawns. After a bit of walking, you’ll find Raghnall fighting some enemies, and if you speak to him afterward he’ll be able to follow you.
This is an important point to take note of: Speak to Raghnall after you defeat the first batch of enemies, because if you don’t, he won’t follow you throughout the rest of the cave. I learned this the hard way and was unable to have him by my Sorcerer’s side for the rest of the enemy encounters. This also made Raghnall unable to tell my Arisen the truth of the quest.
If you do get him to follow you, you’ll fight a few Saurians and make it to a campsite. Rest there, and Raghnall will confide in you about your escort mission. It was a trap concocted for you to be held responsible for the death of who you were escorting. It seems in fact that Raghnall came to save you so you wouldn’t be incriminated, meaning you were right to trust him.
If you did end up siding with Simon, you would’ve ended up with the same ending. By the end of this quest, you end up with a reward of 12,000 gold, and Raghnall bids you farewell. After this quest, you may also be interested in completing The Phantom Oxcart, which was on my agenda after I finished this one.
