Toward the end of The Winged Knight side quest, players must decide the fate of a character named Mandrin. This guide will cover whether you should spare or execute Mandrin in Unicorn Overlord.
Unicorn Overlord: Spare or execute Mandrin?
The first thing players must realize when deciding to spare or execute Mandrin in Unicorn Overlord is that the decision will affect how Ochlys perceives them. If you choose to execute Mandrin, Ochlys will approve and also reward you with 15 Divine Shards (a rare currency that is not easily obtained).
If you decide to spare Mandrin, he will join your cause and become a new ally later in the game. He is a Sniper, a decent class in the game, but not a necessary one that can make a significant difference for your army.
With that in mind, the best decision here is to execute Mandrin and receive the Divine Shards as a reward. Considering that Divine Shards are scarce in Unicorn Overlord and can earn you powerful items, getting 15 in one location can get you one step closer to improving your current units.
What are Divine Shards in Unicorn Overlord?
Divine Shards is a rare currency in Unicorn Overlord that can be spent at the Divine Shard Exchange for powerful items. These items include Offensive Dews, accessories, and items that add passive skills and buffs to your characters.
Additionally, players can spend 30 Divine Shards at the Divine Shard Exchange to recruit Ochlys at the end of the “An Angel’s Request” side quest. Now that you know everything you can earn with Divine Shards, I’m sure you’re starting to understand why executing Mandrin was the right choice.
Besides receiving Divine Shards by executing Mandrin, players can get the rare currency on the ground in the Overworld and by completing certain side quests. They can also be found while mining in the Quarry, although this is the rarest method to obtain them, so it is not entirely recommended.
