Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth: Should you answer Shinra, Sephiroth, or Wutai to Vincent Valentine

You may be stumped during a short cutscene when Vincent asks, “Your foe? And who might that be?” This guide explains the outcomes of all possible answers.

How should you answer Vincent in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?

The most important fact about answering Vincent’s question in FF7 Rebirth is that any answer you provide won’t change the course of the story. Instead, how you answer the question will only change the dialogue that follows and your relationship with some party members.

Wutai answer outcome

If you tell Vincent that Wutai is your enemy, Yuffie will be unhappy with this choice and demand that Cloud better be joking. Considering Yuffie is part of Wutai and grew up there, it only makes sense that she’s upset that Cloud would say something so terrible about her people.

Shinra answer outcome

On the other hand, if you claim Shinra is your enemy, then Cait Sith will show a negative reaction due to him being an employee. Additionally, answering Shinra will receive a negative response from Vincent due to his background as a Turk, an elite group of agents within the Shinra company.

Sephiroth answer outcome

Lastly, you can answer Sephiroth, which has the best outcome out of all the choices. Telling Vincent that Sephiroth is your enemy will cause a neutral reaction; no one will be upset, and no additional dialogue will be triggered. If you want to stay on everyone’s good side for moral reasons, then you should choose the Sephiroth dialogue option.

Does Your Choice Matter?

Regardless of your answer, the conversation between you and Vincent will ultimately result in Cloud confirming that Sephiroth is the enemy. Later, Vincent will tag along with you and your friends to help you on your journey to stop him.

If you want to see all the outcomes for yourself, you can save the game right before the cutscene in chapter 11. This way, you can choose an option, see the outcome, reload, and select a different answer.

You will know you’re coming up on the cutscene when you have completed the party-locked section with Cait Sith, Aerith, and Barrett in chapter 11 and defeated the boss in the reactor. Once you regroup with all party members, you will trigger the cutscene with Vincent moments later.
