Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth Red XIII romance guide: Best dialogue choices and answers

How do you romance Red XIII?

Red XIII might not be the ideal romantic partner for many, but a select subset of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth players (you know who you are) want nothing more than to take Nanaki on the Skywheel date at the Gold Saucer.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth has greatly expanded the Gold Saucer date from the original game, even going so far as to include characters that were not romanceable in the 1997 classic. Red XIII wasn’t an eligible bachelor for the Gold Saucer date in the original FF7, but you can date him in Rebirth if you play your cards right. Since the game gives you more opportunities to romance characters, however, you’ll need to make use of every possible chance you get to deepen your bond with him.

How to Romance Red XIII in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

To romance Red XIII in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you need to raise his relationship level higher than any other party member. Dating Red XII at the Gold Saucer requires a minimum relationship level of four, but you can get the intimate version of the date scene if you max out his relationship at level five.

Raising your relationship with Nanaki works just like it does with every other Rebirth party member. Just say the right things to him during cutscenes, complete all side quests that involve him (especially the ones in Cosmo Canyon), and unlock all his Synergy attacks. There are a few missable moments that grant you considerable Red XIII relationship points during the main story, too.

Missable Red XIII Relationship Boosts

Four easily missable Red XIII moments will net you some extra relationship points with him throughout the main story. The first takes place in Chapter 5 aboard the Shinra-8 ship while the party is sailing for Costa del Sol after leaving Junon. If you win the Queen’s Blood tournament, you’ll face off against Red XIII and score a huge relationship boost with him if you beat him.

Later on in Chapter 6, you’ll be forced to choose between Tifa and Red XIII or Aerith and Barret during the battle with Hojo at Costa del Sol. If you choose to help Tifa and Red XIII, your relationship will grow stronger with both of them.

Finally, you can raise your relationship with Red XIII even further at the Gold Saucer. If you beat Dio in the 3D Brawler tutorial fight against Dio at the beginning of Chapter 8, your bond with Red XIII will deepen. When you return to the Gold Saucer later in the game during Chapter 12, you can rematch Red XIII in Queen’s Blood for another relationship boost.
