Where to get AP Up Materia in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth

Level up your Materia faster.

Upgrading your Materia in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth can be a huge pain since it takes so much AP to level them up. Thankfully, there are ways to speed up the process and strengthen your favorite Materia much faster than normal.

AP Up is a rare Materia that can be linked to any other Materia in the game (as long as your weapon or accessory has a linked Materia slot). When linked to another Materia, it will double the rate at which it gains AP, making it level up twice as fast. Whether you’re trying to level up spellcasting Materia to gain access to more powerful spells like Firaga or Curaga or you’re trying to maximize your stat gains by upgrading HP Up or MP Up Materia, adding an AP Up Materia into the mix will make grinding much easier.

There are three ways to get AP UP Materia in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. The first AP Up Materia can be found in the Mythril Mine, which you’ll explore during Chapter 3 of the main story. Near the end of Tunnel No. 1, there’s a long walkway with a Materia waiting for you at the end. You should be able to spot its bright glowing aura as soon as you enter the room. Just cross the walkway and you’ll find an AP Up Materia.

There are two more AP Up Materia that you can collect in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, but they’re not available until much later in the game. Chadley’s Combat Simulator offers AP Up Materia as a reward for these specific trials:

  • Corel Battle Intel: Badlands Beasts
  • Nibel Battle Intel: Chthonian Rodeo

As the names suggest, you won’t be able to take on these challenges until you reach the specified regions later in Rebirth’s story. You’ll reach Corel in Chapter 9 of the main storyline, but you won’t get to Nibel until Chapter 11. Once you get far enough in the game, just speak to Chadley and complete these Combat Simulator challenges to add more AP Up Materia to your collection.

If you want to upgrade all of your Materia to the highest level, then using AP Up is the way to go since the normal leveling process is so slow. Having access to all three of them is a godsend too, so make sure to head back to the Mythril Mine and grab the first one if you missed it during your initial visit.
