Although we come back to Diablo 4 each new season, we know we’re either getting something good or something bad. We’ve ranked all the Diablo 4 seasons from worst to best.
With nearly every new season, we’ve received new features, updates, items, and mechanics to get us into a fun gameplay loop until the next season arrives. But which have been the best?
3. Season of the Malignant (Season 1)
For Diablo 4’s very first season, there wasn’t exactly anything too terrible with it. It was the first time Blizzard introduced us to Varshan, who now serves as a popular Uber boss. But we also got to collect Malignant Hearts and Caged Hearts, which we could slot into our Jewelry.
I think Season 1 just wasn’t as great as the seasons we got after it. You’d explore Malignant Tunnels to get Caged Hearts and Invokers, just to fight Elite enemies and do it all over again. Also, since Caged Hearts could only attach to jewelry, you’d run out of gear to attach them to pretty fast.
Season 1 also brought about many balance changes that unbalanced the game, making players quite upset. It seems like even now, Blizzard is playing catch-up to some of the negative updates brought by this season.
2. Season of the Construct (Season 3)
Everything surrounding the release of Season 3 was hyped up, with the introduction of your Seneschal Construct and the enticing Vaults to explore. But once Season 3 dropped, many players were a little disappointed by how annoying the Vaults’ traps were, and how useless the Seneschal Construct felt.

Luckily, Blizzard responded swiftly and made changes to the Vaults to make them less punishing, which improved Season 3 quite a bit. I personally really enjoyed running through Vaults and precariously avoiding traps while collecting Governing and Tuning Stones for my Seneschal Companion.
Despite the positive changes, there were still many players upset about the fun additions from the previous season being gone. Having a whole new underground hub area to use these Vaults, all while having engaging Arcane Tremors to partake in above the surface, was a step up from Season 1.
1. Season of Blood (Season 2)
Many players, myself included, really loved what was going on within Season of Blood. Maybe it was because it was in theme with the time of Halloween, or maybe it was the fact that you could have wicked Vampiric Powers to play around with.
But something was in the air this season, and it wasn’t just a metallic smell. Being able to customize which Vampiric Powers you had (my personal favorite being the ability to transform into a cloud of bats), and having a mountain of buffs to make up for the previous season, Season of Blood was incredibly enjoyable.
The fact that most players during Season 3 reminisce about Season 2 tells you something about how good this season was. It brought along target farming with Uber bosses so you could get Uniques easier, as well as introducing Blood Harvests, which was an engaging event that allowed players to fight hordes of vampiric monsters. So far, no season has topped this one.
