Having skill points in RPGs is necessary, but most games within the genre seem to copy and paste each other. For Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, the skill system is different, but still features a typical leveling system from any RPG. To learn how Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden skill points work, you should read on.Â
Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden – How the skill points work
Much like other Focus Entertainment games such as Plague Tale: Requiem which have a unique skill system, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden does freshen things up. Normally, most RPGs would earn a skill point and that would go towards a specific skill. To get another skill, you’d need to earn one. However, in Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden you can expect to do much of that. But where things change is when you buy a skill, the one adjacent to it is automatically bought. So at any time in the Evolution Menu, you can swap between the two without using a skill point. Then to get the next set of skills, you have to earn a skill point as mentioned.Â
On top of that, if you don’t like the skills you have, there’s an option to refund it. This way, you can experiment with any playstyle.
Become adaptable
The combat of Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden requires you to be contextual. So depending on what you’re fighting, you’ll need all the resources you can muster up. Skills are one of these resources. If you can swap between the skills you have, fighting and other mechanics may become easier.Â
What I do is a part is too hard and I have a skill that makes my attacks stronger or gives any sort of buff, I quickly switch to it. I think it’s a great way to not get stuck in one way of playing. The game does reward you for trying out different styles of combat. Thanks to the unconventional way of how the skills work, you can fight in almost any way you want to.
