If you own The Last of Us Part 2 on PlayStation 4, you can spend $10 USD to upgrade to the Remastered PS5 version when it releases. Follow this guide to learn how to upgrade to TLOU2 Remastered and why you’ll want to do that.
How to use TLOU2 Remastered PS5 upgrade
To encourage players who already own The Last of Us Part 2 to dip their toes back in, Naughty Dog is offering a $10 USD upgrade for the Remastered PS5 version. They’ve done this in the past when they remastered Uncharted 4, and I’m glad it’s a trend they are sticking to.
When TLOU2 Remastered launches on January 19, 2024, all you need to do is own The Last of Us Part 2 on PS4. If you own it digitally, visit the PS Store, find The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered, and select and purchase the $10 USD upgrade. If you own it physically, you need to put the PS4 disc into your PS5, purchase and download the Remastered PS5 upgrade, and use the disc to play The Last of Us Part 2 Remastered.
Why should I upgrade to TLOU2 Remastered?
While it feels like it came out yesterday, especially thanks to how gorgeous it was upon launch, The Last of Us Part 2 is three and a half years old already. That might not be old enough to justify a remaster (I’m in the camp of desperately wanting new games from Naughty Dog before we get rereleases), but there are several reasons why you should upgrade to TLOU2 Remastered.
Graphical and Dualsense additions aside, The Last of Us Part 2 has a guitar free play mode, a Lost Level mode that features three cut levels filled with developer commentary, and a roguelike survival mode called No Return. I’m most stoked about No Return, but I’m also excited to play through the Lost Levels.
If you haven’t played The Last of Us Part 2 at all, it’s 100% worth the full $49.99 USD asking price. If you have played through TLOU2, the remaster is worth upgrading thanks to the new game modes.
When is TLOU2 coming to PC?
We still have no word on when, or if, The Last of Us Part 2 is coming to PC. The biggest piece of evidence proving that The Last of Us Part 2 will eventually come to PC is the fact that The Last of Us Part 1 is currently available on PC, although it launched with poor performance. Hopefully, when we get The Last of Us Part 2 on PC, it won’t be the same story.
