This article is over 13 years old and may contain outdated information

Social games developer Zynga (responsible for games like FarmVille, CityVille andMafia Wars) see 40 year-old women as “the new hardcore gamer”.
Manny Anekal, Brand Advertising Manager at Zynga, has spoken about how his company’s growth wouldn’t have been possible if it wasn’t for the time and money 25-44 year-old women spend on their games.
Anekal’s figures show that 55% of social gamers in the US are women and 53% of those playing Zynga games are women aged 25-44. Zynga has been indepently valued as worth upwards of $7 billion.
“More women are playing FarmVille than watching soap operas,” Anekal said, before explaining that 40 year-old women play Zynga games more than any other demographic and that “she is the new hardcore gamer”.
