A second round of layoffs at Disney Interactive Media Group has raised the total number of staff redundancies to around 280.
According to a Disney statement quoted by PaidContent, these latest “targeted” layoffs have resulted in almost eighty people losing their jobs. In the first wave, around two hundred staff were deemed unnecessary. Disney has described the cull as “fairly minimal”; which is a nice slap in the face to the people let go.
Last January, Disney Interactive closed Propaganda Games after the studio completed the Tron: Evolution tie-in title.
Walt Disney Co. reported a net income of $4.0 billion USD for 2010. Toy Story 3 has pulled in over $1.0 billion USD worldwide.
