Ubisoft Fills Guitar Hero Void With Rocksmith

This article is over 13 years old and may contain outdated information

If you’ve been missing old man Guitar Hero since Activision smothered him in his sleep, Ubisoft may have your fret-bothering fetish covered with the newly-announced Rocksmith.
Rocksmith’s big thing is that it’ll work with real, actual guitars, plugged into either your PC, Xbox 360 or PS3 via an adaptor. This is something guitar games have dabbled with before, but never so extensively.
When you combine this with videogaming’s unique ability to coax and prod people with achievements and special unlocks (of which this title will have both,) Rocksmith begins to seem like it could be a powerful teaching tool.
A “sizeable” library of music is promised at release (scheduled for this autumn,) including tracks by “The Animals, The Black Keys, David Bowie, Interpol, Nirvana, and The Rolling Stones.”
Beginners and seasoned pros alike should be catered for, with various auto-adjusting skill levels promised.
