The latest iteration of the beloved ARK series has landed in players’ homes.

If you plan on diving into the game, you’re going to need to learn some of the basics, including how to form your first tribe. We’ll run it all down below.

ARK: Survival Ascended – How To From a Tribe

Tribes are a core feature of the ARK series that captures the comradery that would be needed to survive in a harsh world. In the case of ARK’s gameplay, this can either be defeating a group of enemy dinosaurs, taking down other tribes, or simply having a good time.

Similar to how guilds or fireteams operate in games such as World of Warcraft and Destiny 2, these are gathering places for you and your friends.

Starting a tribe in Survival Ascended will function a lot like how it did in Evolved. All the steps are outlined below.

  • Open your inventory and head over to Tribe Management
    • This is the centralized hub for all your tribes and invites in ARK.
  • From here you can invite friends to your tribe, change your tribe name, and other options including leaving a tribe.
