You can make a melee-focused Cleric multiclass or lean into support. There are many incredible options, but we’ll narrow them down to just a few.

Best multiclass builds for Clerics in Baldur’s Gate 3

There are a lot of great multiclass builds in Baldur’s Gate 3 and some of the best ones include Cleric. The best use for multiclassing as a Cleric or into Cleric is to add support.

Clerics thrive on support spells which can be used to buff and heal your allies. While that’s generally true, because Cleric has so many subclasses, they have a lot of flexibility to make multiclass builds that feature high AoE DPS, strong tanky melee, and ultimate support.

Here are the three best Cleric multiclass builds in Baldur’s Gate 3:

  1. Paladin/Cleric
  2. Sorcerer/Cleric
  3. Bard/Cleric

Best Paladin/Cleric multiclass build in BG3

The Paladin/Cleric multiclass build is a classic holy build. The best way to build this is to put three levels into Paladin and nine levels in Cleric. The goal is to be aggressive and offer buffs to allies.

With Paladin, you’ll use Divine Smite to bully enemies and be a strong melee tank. You’ll also be able to strike enemies twice. Use the War Domain Cleric subclass to gain the ability to attack even more times during one turn. But for Paladin subclasses, I’d either go for Vengeance or Oathbreaker.

The spells you want to focus on are Inflict Wounds because you’ll likely always be in melee range, Healing Word to heal your allies, and Bless to buff your team. In the higher levels, use Spirit Guardians to absolutely dominate anything that gets close to you and you’ll be a holy killing machine.

Best Sorcerer/Cleric multiclass build in BG3

If you don’t want to be a melee tank Cleric, then the Sorcerer/Cleric multiclass build is an amazing one you need to try. This multiclass build allows you to become a god of thunder and lightning thanks to the unique subclasses found in Clerics and Sorcerers. I recommend doing something like Cleric level five and Sorcerer level seven.

The way this great multiclass combo works is you choose the Tempest Domain for the Cleric subclass and the Storm Sorcery for the Sorcerer subclass. As you level up, you’ll unlock Sorcery Points and Metamagic which helps you deal high DPS and you can use Tempestuous Magic to Fly without Opportunity Attacks hitting you, which makes using Shocking Grasp as your cantrip a must.

The spells you’ll rely on are Thunderwave, Witch Bolt, Shatter, Lightning Bolt, and Call Lightning, all of which are amazing high-damage spells. Destructive Wrath is a subclass ability you’ll get as a Tempest Domain Cleric that’ll allow you to deal maximum Thunder and Lightning damage. Plus, you can use your Thunder and Lightning spells to control the battlefield.

Best Bard/Cleric multiclass build in BG3

Last but not least, the Cleric and Bard multiclass build is the ultimate support build. This multiclass build goes all-in on support since Clerics and Bards are the two main support classes in Baldur’s Gate 3. I recommend you put two levels into Cleric and 10 into Bard.

The best way to go is Life Domain for your Cleric subclass so you can get Disciple of Life and Heavy Armor proficiency. That’s basically all the Cleric does in this multiclass build because the Bard spells, class, and subclass abilities get really good really fast. I recommend College of Lore for your Bard subclass because it comes with the best support features.

As a Life Domain Cleric, you get proficiency with Heavy Armor which is amazing. Also, you get Disciple of Life which grants extra healing every time you heal. As a Bard, you’ll have a lot of support spells and abilities but you’ll also have a lot of debuffs that also support your party.

The spells you’ll want to use at all times are Bless, Guidance, and Healing Word to heal your party out. Use the Vicious Mockery cantrip when you don’t want to use a spell slot to give an enemy disadvantage on their next attack. As you level up, Fear, Glyph of Warding, Tasha’s Hideous Laughter, Mass Cure Wounds, and Otto’s Irresistible Dance are gonna be excellent spells to support your team.

Now that you know about the best Cleric multiclass build, you’ll probably want an all-around Cleric class and skills guide for Baldur’s Gate 3.
