Many console players have been left out of experiencing CS:GO because the game was never available on their platform. All Counter-Strike 2 platforms confirmed – Mac, PS5, Xbox, Switch, and more
Though the evolution of CS:GO to CS2 changed a number of things, one thing that remains the same is the platforms the game is available on. So, currently, Counter-Strike 2 is only playable on PC.
Counter-Strike has always been known as the most tryhard, competitive FPS game in all of gaming, and it’ll only keep its purity if it stays on PC. In my research, it looks like CS:GO did have controller support, but nobody used it simply because it isn’t as effective. Valve didn’t try to balance the game for controller players, so in general, it was all-around more difficult to use controllers over mouse and keyboard.
There are currently no plans to bring CS2 to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, or Nintendo Switch. I would be shocked if that ever happened because the standard that has been in place for decades is that Counter-Strike stays on PC.
Is CS2 on Mac? Answered
The saddest news is that CS:GO was playable on Mac. In fact, you had to buy the game to play it. Now, you can’t play CS2 on Mac and you can’t get your money back.
At the launch of CS2, two things happened simultaneously: CS2 became unplayable on Mac and it became free-to-play. That means that, currently, Mac players can’t play CS2. They also can’t get their money back, and people spend thousands of dollars in this game.
It would be wild to see Valve not update CS2 to include Mac support, but for now, there is no Mac support. My advice is to stay connected to the CS2 Twitter (or X) for the latest on when to expect Mac support. It should come sooner than later, hopefully.
