When you get an expansion, you want to make sure you’re getting your value for money. Game time, extras, and new mechanics are all that make the game worth investing back into. It is also important that the expansions add some depth and intrigue to a game you have probably already completed at least once. With the release of Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the question of how long it will take to beat is important and determines whether it is worth the money.
Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty playtime
When I began Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, I had already buried 46 hours into the game. By the time I had finished the expansion, I had clocked in 56. Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty came to a very round 10 hours to beat. Of course, I hadn’t done all the little extras like the side missions and stuff, but the core missions, including the Mr Hands storyline, were completed.
The core storyline plus extras in Phantom Liberty take ten hours to complete, but as I mentioned in my review, most of those hours are not spent actually playing the game. There is a vast amount of time listening to dialogue or ‘Waiting for someone to call.’ These lost hours greatly lengthen the time it takes to beat Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. Actual time playing is probably closer to about 3 hours, even on hard difficulty.
The added world and missions will give a lot more playtime to the expansion if you care to complete them all. To reach 100% completion, you will probably have about 25 to 30 hours on your hands.
Starting point
It is worth noting that I started Phantom Liberty with the character I had already almost completed the game with. I went straight from before the point of no return and into Dogtown. This meant I already had my build and set up ready before I delved into Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty. It may take longer with a fresh character.
