Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are games that allow you to do many things within its open-world structure. You can spend all day simply completing parts of the Pokédex, you can even shiny hunt for some new additions to your shiny dex, or you can spend time completing one of the three main stories the game has to offer. Sometimes, doing all of these isn’t incredibly straightforward though, such as finding evolution methods for Pokémon that you need to fill out your dex. One of these Pokémon that has an evolution method you might have to search for is Poliwhirl, which is a Pokémon added in The Teal Mask DLC. How to evolve Poliwhirl in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet – The Teal Mask DLC

Evolving Poliwhirl in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet can be a bit difficult if you don’t know what to do. There are two separate different Poliwhirl evolutions that you can get in-game, which are Poliwrath and Politoed. Poliwrath is the easier evolution of Poliwhirl that you can get, as you only need a Water Stone to evolve it into Poliwrath in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. To evolve Poliwhirl into Politoed though, it’s a little bit more involved. as you need to trade Poliwhirl while it’s holding a King’s Rock.

To be able to get a King’s Rock in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, you’re going to need to do one of a few things. The first thing you can do is just buy one from Delibird Presents in Mesagoza after earning four gym badges. You can also just get one by talking to Geeta after completing the Gym Rematches post-game.

Can you evolve Poliwhirl too early?

There are some evolutions that lock you out of learning certain moves after evolution, but Poliwhirl is not one of those Pokémon. It turns out for both Poliwrath and Politoed that you can learn every move that Poliwhirl learns and more via the remembering moves feature of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet after you evolve your Poliwhirl.
