Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are games that allow you to go in any order you like. You can spend time getting to know the locals of Artazon, or you can make your way up north for a trip to the snowy mountains. This also goes for the Pokémon you can find, you can go and assemble your team immediately, which is exactly what I did for the first DLC of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, The Teal Mask. I scoured the lands and while I was doing so, came across one of my favorite Pokémon evolution lines – the Swinub line. Introduced in Generation 2, they’ve been a mainstay for me ever since. In Generation 4, they added an evolution for Pilsowine, Mamoswine, and the evolution method can be confusing if you don’t know what to do. Here’s how to evolve Piloswine in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet – The Teal Mask DLC.

How to evolve Piloswine in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet – The Teal Mask DLC
Once you have yourself a Piloswine, you can go about evolving it into a Mamoswine in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. To do this, you’re going to need to have your Piloswine know the move Ancient Power and level it up once. This can be done as soon as Piloswine learns Ancient Power, which is immediately if you catch it during the Teal Mask DLC. According to my research, Piloswine learns Ancient Power at level 1, meaning you should be able to evolve your Piloswine at any given time in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
To teach your Piloswine Ancient Power, you’re going to need to head into the summary menu of your Pokémon. To do this, press the X button, then press left and menu down to your Piloswine and select it, then press ‘Check Summary’. In here, you’re going to want to tab over to the right once, and then press the A button and select ‘Remember Moves’. Now you’re in this menu, Ancient Power should be an option here, teach it to your Piloswine, and then level it up by either battling or by using candies, and your Piloswine will evolve in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are available for purchase from the Nintendo Store.
