Starfield companion likes and dislikes, explained

While there is a near-infinite amount of companions you can have in Starfield, the companions that have likes and dislikes are the four main companions. Vasco doesn’t have any likes or dislikes and Adoring Fan likes anything you like and dislikes anything you dislike. The likes and dislikes highlighted here coincide with who you can romance.

From the input of many writers across PC Invasion and Attack of the Fanboy, we’ve discovered that what each companion does and doesn’t like can be unpredictable. Every companion likes it when you’re nice, but some companions let you get away with stuff and then dislike it at other times. They all seem to be pretty volatile, so just listen to what they say before you do anything to ensure they’ll be impartial or like your next action.

  • Sarah Morgan
    • Likes – Honesty, integrity, being nice to everyone.
    • Dislikes – Stealing, pickpocketing, murder, being mean.
  • Sam Coe
    • Likes – Justice, punishment for crime, being nice. He doesn’t mind murder if it’s justified.
    • Dislikes – Breaking the law, being mean.
  • Barrett
    • Likes – Communication instead of violence, being nice.
    • Dislikes – Stealing, pickpocketing, murder, being mean.
  • Andreja
    • Likes – Helping those who can’t help themselves, being nice. She doesn’t mind pickpocketing and stealing if it’s justified.
    • Dislikes – Hurting innocent people, being mean.

Note: While you’re trying to learn the likes and dislikes of each companion, you should see our all companions ranked guide to help you know who is best.

In my experience, Sarah Morgan is the most stuck-up companion in Starfield. While she is nice and cool, she has zero tolerance for stealing, pickpocketing, hurting people, and murdering. She’ll also dislike when you pick dialogue options that are rude or mean in any way.

Sam Coe is one of the coolest companions in Starfield. Though he’ll dislike when you break the law by stealing and shooting innocent people, he doesn’t mind when you have to kill someone for the greater good. In my experience, Sam Coe has actually contributed dialogue that suggests he’s fine with killing people who can’t be trusted. He’ll like when you uphold justice and do what’s right.

Barrett is extremely similar to Sarah Morgan in that he is a stickler. Barrett dislikes when you do anything morally wrong like stealing, murder, and being mean in any way. He likes when you use Persuasion instead of resorting to killing. Like every other companion, he likes when you are nice to him.

Andreja is similar to Sam Coe because she is okay with things that might be considered bad. Andreja has a dark past, so she’s okay with stealing, pickpocketing, and murder when it’s justified. She still wants to do the right thing, but she’ll allow you to get away with more than the other companions. She doesn’t like it when you hurt innocent people and especially likes it when you help those in need.
