How to enter Temple of Bhaal doors in Baldur’s Gate 3

Knocking won't work.

Throughout your time with Baldur’s Gate 3, you’ll come across plenty of locked doors. Typically, they require Thieves’ Tools to unlock, or the Knock spell. Otherwise, some doors are only unlockable through special means. There are two specific doors in the Temple of Bhaal that gave me trouble, and probably many other players. I was confused for quite awhile when dealing with the first door, and even the second can be perplexing. Let me explain how to enter the Temple of Bhaal doors in Baldur’s Gate 3.

You’re finally on the precipice of facing off against Orin, and soon after the Elder Brain through the Temple of Bhaal. But in separate locations at this temple, two Solid Doors stand in your way with no keyholes, nor any handles. How you can enter the Temple of Bhaal doors in Baldur’s Gate 3 is by shooting the hanging corpses or murdering the tribunal, then using the Amulet of Bhaal.

Before you can even enter the temple, the door asks that you prove yourself in the Dread Lord’s eyes. If you’ve already defeated the Murder Tribunal before this, you can tell the door you’ve done so, which is a good show of faith. Otherwise, you can actually shoot the corpses hanging in front of the doorway. This will spill their blood on the floor, which in turn unlocks the first set of doors.

If you haven’t taken care of the Murder Tribunal, you should definitely do that before progressing, as you’ll need a special item from there to get through the next Solid Doors. Start with solving the Open Hand Temple murders. Read our detailed guide on how to finish that quest, which should eventually lead you to the Murder Tribunal. Located in Candulhallow’s Tombstones, once you get into the Murder Tribunal, you’ll meet Sarevok Anchev.

This is a familiar character from the Baldur’s Gate franchise. He’s a Bhaalspawn, and is actually Orin’s grandfather. He’ll ask if you’ve arrived to become an Unholy Assassin of Bhaal, but you’ll want to defeat him instead. This is good proof that you deserve to enter the Temple of Bhaal.

When first inspecting the door leading to Orin the Red, you get the chilling feeling to turn around. The game won’t be of much help when trying to figure out a way through. There’s one special item you need for this to open. Remember the Murder Tribunal I just talked about?
