Baldur’s Gate 3 has a lot of side things that you can find along your journey through the massive world that Larian has created. You can find things such as a settlement of people looking for help, or even a fight, and even small things like the Owlbear cave, where you can interact with an Owlbear and get some loot. One of these side activities is the entire questline in the swamp area of Act 1. In here you can find Auntie Ethel, who’s an evil old person who you can choose to kill at the end of this segment. When you do end up leaving this area, you might come across the Addled Frog, as it’s quite hard to miss this bright little animal once you leave her house. Here’s our guide on how to interact with the Addled Frog in Baldur’s Gate 3.
How to interact with the Addled Frog in Baldur’s Gate 3
The Addled Frog will be just outside of Auntie Ethel’s house in Baldur’s Gate 3, down a path roughly opposite of the entrance to the house. It’s where I went purely because I thought it was the way out of the swamp, only to find this little fella there. When you walk up to the Addled Frog, you can interact with it normally, but that won’t get you very far. To properly interact with the frog, you need to cast Speak with Animals to be able to converse with it properly.
If you converse with it after killing Auntie Ethel, the Addled Frog will be absolutely gleeful that you have defeated the evil in the area. After doing a little jump or two, it will then guide you to a certain location to reveal some hidden treasure for you to grab. Fair warning though, when I did this, it didn’t immediately lead me there and I sat around for 5 minutes waiting for it to take me somewhere, so this might happen to you too. You can also fight the Addled Frog in Baldur’s Gate 3, although this is surprisingly a pretty tough fight so I wouldn’t recommend doing this without some prep.
Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for purchase on Steam.
