Grab a free Mew in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet with this code before it’s too late

Mew is one of the most well-known Legendaries in the entire Pokemon Franchise. Even in the Red and Blue days, playground rumors were spread about how to get Mew; it was a wild goose chase, but every Pokemon Trainer wanted one. Fast forward to 2023, and Gamefreak has given out a limited-time code to get one immediately. Here’s how to Grab a free Mew in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet before it’s too late!

The code for Mew is ‘GETY0URMEW,’ note that the ‘o’ in ‘Your’ is a Zero.

To enter the code, access the Main Menu in-game, select Poke Portal, Mystery Gift, and Get with Code/Password. After a short load time, you can enter the password. Don’t worry if you don’t have a ‘Nintendo Switch Online’ subscription, as you don’t need it to get Mew.

This Mew is special as it comes with a random Tera Type. Not only that, the Tera Type dictates one of Mew’s attacks. In my testing, I got a Mew with the Steel Tera Type and one with Ground. The Steel Type knows Flash Cannon and the Ground Type knows Earth Power.

The free Mew comes ahead of an announced Mewtwo 7 Star Raid in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet. 7 Star Raids are the hardest content in the game, so I’m sure Mewtwo will make us all cry when he’s unleashed. The Mewtwo Raid goes live from September 1 – September 17, 2023. 

The Mew Code will only work until September 17, and there’s no telling when or if it will be back, so make sure to grab yours asap.
