What are the best feats in Baldur’s Gate 3?

  1. Ability Improvements – Increase one ability by two, or two abilities by one, to a maximum of 20.
    • Great for every class.
  2. Magic Initiate: Warlock – Learn two Warlock cantrips and a level one Warlock spell. The spellcasting modifier for these spells is Charisma.
    • Great for magic users like Wizards, Sorcerers, Clerics, Druids, and Bards, or classes looking for solid spells.
  3. Great Weapon Master – Make another melee weapon attack after landing a Critical Hit or defeating an enemy with a melee weapon attack. You can toggle this ability: melee weapons you are proficient in have a minus five to attack roll but deal an additional 10 damage.
    • Great for melee users like Barbarians, Paladins, Fighters, and Rangers, and can even be good for Rogues.
  4. Sentinel – You gain advantage on opportunity attacks. Enemies can’t move after hit with an opportunity attack. You can use your reaction to make a weapon attack on enemies that are within melee range and hit your allies.
    • Great for melee users like Barbarians, Paladins, Fighters, and Rangers.
  5. War Caster – Gain advantage on saving throws to maintain concentration spells. Use a reaction to cast Shocking Grasp as an opportunity attack.
    • Great for all magic users.
  6. Lucky – Gain three Luck Points. Use them to gain advantage on attack rolls, ability checks, or saving throws, or to make an enemy reroll their attack roll.
    • Great for every class.
  7. Sharpshooter – Your ranged weapon attacks do not receive penalties from high ground rules. Ranged weapon attacks with weapons you are proficient with have a minus five penalty to their attack roll but deal an additional 10 damage.
    • Great for Rangers and other classes using ranged weapons.
  8. Polearm Master – When attacking with a glaive, halberd, quarterstaff, or spear, you can use a bonus action to attack with the butt of your weapon. You can also make an opportunity attack when a target comes within range.
    • Great for any class proficient in polearms.
  9. Savage Attacker – When making a melee weapon attack, you roll damage dice twice and use the highest result.
    • Great for any class using melee weapons.
  10. Spell Sniper – You learn a cantrip and the number you need to roll a critical hit while attacking with any spell is reduced by one.
    • Great for all magic users.

Ability Improvements

The best feat in Baldur’s Gate 3 is Ability Improvements. Every class benefits from it and it’s truly powerful. Ability Improvements allows you to increase one of your abilities by two or two of your abilities by one. For example, you can put two extra points into Strength or one point into Constitution and one point into Wisdom. The higher your abilities, the better you are — plain and simple.

Magic Initiate: Warlock

My favorite feat in Baldur’s Gate 3 is Magic Initiate: Warlock. While you can multiclass Warlock as your second class to great effect, you can get a similar result by picking the Magic Initiate: Warlock feat. With Magic Initiate: Warlock, you immediately unlock one Warlock spell and two Warlock cantrips. The reason Magic Initiate: Warlock is better than Wizard and Sorcerer is because Warlock cantrips are really powerful and they are the only class with spell slots that recharge on short rests. I recommend getting Eldritch Blast.

Great Weapon Master

Great Weapon Master is arguably the best feat for melee DPS playstyles and tanks. With Great Weapon Master, when you land a Critical Hit or kill a target with a melee weapon attack, you can make another melee weapon attack as a bonus attack that turn. Attacks with Heavy weapons you’re proficient in deal an additional 10 damage (which is huge), but you suffer a negative five Attack Roll penalty, but this added feature can be toggled on and off. Great Weapon Master allows you to be an even more effective melee user in multiple ways.

Sentinel

If Great Weapon Master isn’t your style, Sentinel is also an amazing feat for melee users. Sentinel gives you the ability to make a melee Opportunity Attack on enemies that attack a nearby ally. This only works if the target ally doesn’t have Sentinel, so it’s best to only have one character have Sentinel per party. Also with Sentinel, you gain an advantage on all Opportunity Attacks, and when you land a hit with an Opportunity Attack, the target can’t move for the rest of the turn. Sentinel really is a super strong feat, but it’s limited to one per party basically.

War Caster

War Caster is the Sentinel equivalent for spellcasters. With War Caster, you get to use Shocking Grasp (even if you don’t know the spell) on enemies as your Opportunity Attack. Also, you gain advantage on saving throws to maintain concentration which can be huge. War Caster has saving me numerous times when maintaining concentration, and Shocking Grasp as an Opportunity Attack is a great bonus.

Lucky

I really like the Lucky feat and it’s great for every class. Lucky gives you three Lucky points and you can spend them to get an advantage on any Attack Rolls, Ability Checks, or Saving Throws. You can also make an enemy reroll their roll. The advantage is really powerful because you basically roll two dice and take the better result. With Lucky, you have three free advantages to use whenever you want, and it recharges on long rests. It’s kind of like having your very own Bardic Inspiration.

Sharpshooter

Sharpshooter is very similar to Great Weapon Master in that this feat also has a minus five to every ranged weapon attack roll, but when you hit, you always deal 10 bonus damage. The other perk of this feat is high ground rules don’t apply to you anymore.

Polearm Master

Polearm Master might seem too niche, but a lot of the best weapons in the game are Polearms. With this feat, you get to hit enemies much more often, whether that’s when they come into melee range or whenever you want to use

Savage Attacker

Savage Attacker is a simple feat but an amazing one. Whenever you’re successful in landing a melee attack, you roll two dice and take the better number. This can help you deal max damage to enemies which is what we all want all the time.

Spell Sniper

Last but not least, another best feat in Baldur’s Gate 3 is Spell Sniper. All spellcasters benefit from Spell Sniper because lowering the cost of landing critical hits with spells is great. Also, you get a free cantrip which means you can skip Magic Initiate: Warlock and get Eldritch Blast here.
