Baldur’s Gate 3 scuffed rock puzzle solution, explained (BG3)

So, you’ve come across a peculiar-looking scuffed rock in Baldur’s Gate 3 and want to know how to solve this puzzle. The mystery of the scuffed rock is one you’ll tell for ages over a warm hearth and a strong ale… if you figure out how to solve it. Here’s how to solve the scuffed rock puzzle in Baldur’s Gate 3.

How to move the scuffed rock in Baldur’s Gate 3?

First of all, to discover the scuffed rock in Baldur’s Gate 3, you need to know where it is and how to find it. Below is an image of the exact location of the scuffed rock (it’s where my characters are standing), so use that to find it.

Next, you need to jump down off the cliff and walk over to the scuffed rock to find it. You also need to pass an automatic Perception check to find the scuffed rock. With that done, you’re ready to solve the scuffed rock puzzle.

If your customized character isn’t blessed with Strength, you can use Lae’zel or Karlach to move the scuffed rock. If you haven’t found them yet, check out our guide on how to find and recruit every companion. If you have found them but they’re not in your party, go back to camp, tell one of your companions to wait there, and then tell Karlach or Lae’zel to come with you.

As Lae’zal or Karlach, you can either right-click the rock, press “Throw,” and move the scuffed rock somewhere else or you can left-click the rock and drag it somewhere else to quickly toss it aside. With the scuffed rock out of the way, you’ll find an ornate chest with Potions of Speed, Harper’s Notebook, Harper’s Map (for even more goodies to be found), a Ruby, an Agate, and some gold.
