Rainbow 6 is the home of some of the sweatiest, fast-paced, brutal gun games. Speed and precision are absolutely essential if you even want to be considered competitive in the game. This means playing on your preferred platform is key to becoming the best you can be. If you have the controller you’re familiar with in your hands; you can play at the pace you need to. Cross-play in Rainbow 6 is something that not only opens up the competition to a wider audience but also means players can play the way they want to.
Does Rainbow 6 Have Cross-play?
Rainbow 6 absolutely does have cross-play, but only to a limited degree. Xbox and Playstation are able to play against one another, and PC and Luna can face off on the battlefield. So, if you’re on a console, you can play against other console players, but if you’re on a PC, you’re limited to Luna and other PC players.
The reasons for not having console-to-PC crossplay are unclear, but there are some speculations. Due to the nature of the game, with its incredibly fast and high precision requirements, disadvantages are seen across both platforms. Some argue that the aim assist given when using a controller in Rainbow 6 would be unfair to PC players. Adversely, PC players argue that having a keyboard and mouse is by far the superior control method.
Either way, Ubisoft has decided that cross-play between console and PC is not on the cards. However, cross-save is completely possible. It is very simple to transfer all your progression and unlocks from one place to another. You simply need to log into your Ubisoft account to access all your Rainbow 6 data. The ability to easily access your data on any platform means that you can cross-play much easier in Rainbow 6, provided you have both a PC and a console.
