Earned by discovering every Barganier Statue in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, the Tunic of Memories takes the form of the original Champion’s Tunic that Link wore back in Breath of the Wild. In terms of utility, the updated Champion’s Leathers armor piece unfortunately outclasses the Tunic of Memories in every way. The Champion’s Leathers not only reside in an easier-to-find location, but they also boast a higher maximum defense stat of 32 compared to the Tunic of Memories’ 28. Having said that, some may prefer the original Champion’s Tunic design over the new one, so those looking to upgrade it regardless of practicality can read this guide to learn how.
Upgrading the Tunic of Memories
Despite the Tunic of Memories’ overall lower stats compared to the Champion’s Leathers, the process of upgrading will likely turn out more time-consuming. The Champion’s Leathers mostly requires Silent Princesses, Sundelions, and Light Dragon parts to upgrade. On the other hand, the Tunic of Memories also requires Silent Princesses and Light Dragon parts, but adds other dragon parts on top of that.
The first upgrade for the Tunic of Memories, which raises its defense from four to seven, uses up three Silent Princesses, a single Light Dragon Scale, and ten rupees. To upgrade the tunic again for a defense rating of 12, you have to gather three Silent Princesses, one Light Dragon Talon, two Farosh Horns, and 50 rupees. The following upgrade asks you to bring five Silent Princesses, one Shard of Light Dragon’s Fang, two Naydra Horns, and 200 rupees for a defense stat of 18.
For the fourth and final upgrade, you’ll need to collect ten Silent Princesses, one Light Dragon Horn, two Dinraal Horns, and 500 rupees. While the fully upgraded Tunic of Memories isn’t the most useful piece of armor in Tears of the Kingdom by any means, its defense is still nothing to scoff at.
