Are you wondering how to beat the Root Nexus in Remnant 2 and if it has the same mechanics as the first game? The demonic tree returns and is one of the first tough bosses you may encounter during your exploration. However, there are some strategies that you can use to make it easier to defeat, especially on higher difficulties.
Remnant 2: How to beat the Root Nexus in The Forbidden Grove
First, I recommend you and your teammates smack the Root Nexus with your melee weapons instead of shooting it. Not only will this do more damage, but it will allow you to save your ammunition which you will need to defeat the waves of enemies that will spawn (more on that later). In addition, make sure you are hitting the exposed part of the tree and not the roots because you will do increased damage. Finally, you will want to make heavy attacks against the Root Nexus for a burst of damage.
Like in the first game, the Root Nexus will spawn enemies as it takes a specific amount of damage. You will want to make sure you rotate between damaging the Root Nexus and destroying the waves of enemies that spawn because you can quickly become overwhelmed with damage and status effects, and you will die if you don’t. The Root Nexus will make a screaming sound which will tell you that new waves of enemies have spawned, so make sure you are listening for the audible queues to know when to switch your focus.
Note: If you want to know more about all Remnant 2 Status Effects, you will want to read out guide on what they are and how to get rid of them!
The biggest challenge here will be the spiked rollie pollies that will spawn with each wave because they will spin into you constantly, interrupting your actions and leading to a quick death. The best way to defeat them is to shoot them with your secondary gun (I used the Medic’s handgun) while they are spinning, stopping their movement, giving you time to burst them down before they can reach you.
Once you have defeated the spiked rollie pollies, you should swap over to your primary weapon and begin fighting the remaining enemies. You will be attacked by ranged and melee enemies, meaning you must stay mobile while fighting them so you don’t get overwhelmed quickly. It is best to defeat the enemies in front of you first and then go after the ranged attackers once your immediate surroundings are clear. After defeating these enemies, you will get a break in between waves until you damage the Root Nexus again. I found it best to gather ammo drops and heal before melee attacking the Root Nexus again.
You will be rewarded with 100 Scrap and the Blood Bond Trait for beating the Root Nexus, making it worth beating.
