If there’s one thing that’s sure to get COD players excited, it’s the chance to own a new slick Camo for their guns. The Tarnished Camo is the game’s latest addition and is quite challenging to unlock. The new Tarnished Camo is an easter egg in Raid 04, and there are several cryptic clues to follow if you want to get your mitts on it. A quick word of warning, this is a tough one, but if you’re patient, I know you can do it. Let me show you how to get the Tarnished Camo in MW2.
How to get Tarnished Camo in MW2
Before we start, there are a couple of prerequisites. First, I strongly recommend doing this with a premade squad. There are too many variables otherwise, and multiple sections demand solid communication.
Second, it’s worth having subtitles turned on as you’re given a numerical code near the start of the Raid. Without this, you cannot get the Tarnished Camo.
Finally, although not essential, it would help if you had a standard Raid clear under your belt. There are a lot of nasty enemies lurking in the shadows, and it would be best if you knew what was coming.
Blindfold Section
You start the easter egg hunt right at the beginning of the Raid. When you’re guiding the blindfolded player, they will reach a stairwell. Instead of heading up the stairs, they must drop down to the bottom. They will be read a 3-digit code, which is different every time, so make sure you memorize it or write it down. I recommend turning Subtitles on in case you mishear the numbers.
Tunnel Section
After the first loadout, you’ll drop into a tunnel full of armored vehicles. There are rooms to either side, each with a painted number on the wall outside. Each has a lever inside that you can pull, and you need to activate the levers in sequence to match your code. For example, if you got 5,4,6, you’d interact with the lever in room 5, then 4, and finally, 6.
If you’ve done everything correctly, you’ll get a voice prompt that says, “That unlocked something.” This area is crawling with enemies, so I recommend clearing them out with your squad before tackling the levers. Don’t worry if the alarms trigger, as you can take most enemies out safely from under the trucks.
Laser Grid Section
Complete this area as normal until you reach the room where you can disarm the lasers. Disable the traps, but when you do, you’ll notice a previously locked room still has lasers active. This is where you need to go. Send one player in to disable the lasers with the switch at the back on the left wall. Ensure they also grab the Unlabeled Keycard from the table.
Up to this point, dying doesn’t affect your progress, but the Keycard will be lost if you fail now. The only way to get it back is by restarting the Raid, so play carefully.
Juggernaut Maze
The player in the control room is the eyes and ears of the rest of the team. If your squad is going to fail to get the Tarnished Camo anywhere, it’s here. There’s a valve in the control room that can temporarily disable fire if the team needs it, but the two players in the maze need to look for specific valves to activate. Each valve corresponds to a number in the code you heard at the start of the Raid. Although it’s not listed, the valve in the control room is always number 5.
I’ve labeled where each valve is and what number they correspond to on the map above but be patient with this step. If a Juggernaut sneaks up on you, you’ll die very quickly.
When everyone is in position, count down and activate the valves at the same time. Unlike the switches in the tunnel, there is no sound cue for this. Triggering the valves this way opens a door to the east opposite Gate 5 with a card reader inside. Once you use the Unlabelled Keycard here, another door opens opposite with an M4 with Tarnished Camo on the table. Once you pick it up, the Camo is unlocked for your account, and you can use it on every weapon you own.
Can I unlock Tarnished Camo if I don’t own MW2?
Unfortunately, Raids are exclusive to MW2 owners, so you will need to buy the full game if you want the rewards.
Can I just quit after finding the M4 with Tarnished Camo?
I’ve read conflicting reports on this, but the general consensus among the community is to finish the Raid just to be safe. You’ve already jumped through plenty of hoops to get the Camo, and it would be a shame to lose it on a technicality. If you’re wondering what gun to slap your shiny new Camo on, recent balance changes have made the X13 Auto an absolute powerhouse. Check out our build guide and slay in style.
